My Approach

Neighborhood Therapy is a growing pediatric speech therapy practice owned and operated by Carly Traversa, MS, CCC-SLP. Carly is a nationally certified and state-licensed Speech-Language Pathologist dedicated to helping children build strong communication skills that support confidence, connection, and success.

Speech and language therapy for children focuses on supporting a wide range of developmental needs. This can include improving articulation, expanding expressive and receptive language skills, strengthening social communication, and supporting early literacy and pre-academic skills. Therapy may also involve assisting children who use alternative or augmentative communication (AAC) to find the most effective way to express themselves.

At Neighborhood Therapy, Carly uses a play-based, child-led approach to make learning natural, motivating, and fun. Play allows children to practice communication skills in meaningful moments while also helping parents see how to continue strategies at home. Therapy activities are chosen based on each child’s unique interests—whether that’s dinosaurs, dolls, trucks, pretend cooking, or building. By embedding target skills into activities the child already loves, therapy feels joyful and progress becomes more meaningful.

Sessions provided in a child’s home environment allow for real-life practice and better carryover between therapy and everyday routines. Carly focuses on creating a supportive environment where communication can grow naturally, and where families feel confident guiding their child’s progress outside of sessions.

At Neighborhood Therapy, every child’s therapy plan is individualized, strengths-based, and centered around what matters most: helping children communicate confidently in the ways that are most meaningful to them.
